Improving housing conditions for Roma families

Skat provides Caritas Switzerland with consultancies and support missions in the field of improving housing conditions and livelihoods of Roma families in Gjakova, Kosovo. Caritas Switzerland is involved in Kosovo in reconstruction and development cooperation since 1999.
Skat undertook an assessment of one Roma Settlement in Gjakova to develop a strategy for next steps to improve housing and living conditions for poverty reduction. This included a general examination of the current situation and review of potentials to improve housing conditions. Skat carried out a stakeholder analysis and considered technical, institutional, economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects in order to identify priority needs. Skat assessed short- and long-term options and provided advisory services to the local Caritas team for next steps.
